Orchid’s Lantern is a micro independent press founded by Caroline and Cy Dudley in 2017. We aim to blur the lines of genre to bring you the very best of thoughtful literature. To date we have published two metaphysical short story collections (Fragments of Perception and Mind in the Gap, both by C.R. Dudley) and two multi-author anthologies (Vast and Abyss).
As well as expanding the press, at the end of 2022 we will be venturing further into retail by offering a curated selection of small press books, both on the website and in our ‘book nook’ at The Art Cafe in Whitby, North Yorkshire.
We are now accepting submissions for consideration at the press, and for our first quarterly journal. Please visit our submissions page for details and FAQs.
Orchid’s Lantern is Limited company registered in England and Wales as No. 10937072.
For distribution/wholesale enquiries please use Ingram or email us direct at info@orchidslantern.com.

Caroline Dudley – Director, Editor in Chief
Caroline has 20 years of experience in business and finance – 14 at a senior management level – which has put her in great stead for running her own company.
Throughout her professional career she has kept her creativity alive through painting and writing. Her artwork has been shown at various exhibitions in North Yorkshire, and she has curated several more. She has published two collections of her short fiction, which incorporate her previous studies in philosophy and mysticism, plus several limited edition chapbooks and art zines. Her fiction has also appeared in anthologies Virtual Futures: Near Future Fiction and Vital Signals.
Over the last 5 years she has studied editing through personal tuition and the CIEP, and has gained experience in copy editing and content editing for both novels and short stories.
In 2016 she started Orchid’s Lantern as a blog, and over the years it has grown to become an online literary journal and small press. Caroline hopes that by expanding Orchid’s Lantern further she can use her interdisciplinary skills to build a platform and community she is truly proud of.
